Whether washing the face or taking a shower, water filters take the skincare routine to the next level.

A manufacturer of water heating systems and energy-saving products, Stiebel Eltron noted how water in the long term can have a negative effect on the skin due to impurities.

Water can irritate sensitive skin as it may contain chlorine, chemicals, heavy metals and sediments like soils, dust and rust.

The new Stiebel Face is actually a pre-filter unit installed beneath a bathroom sink to improve water quality in order to protect the health of eyes, skin and teeth.

The German company dates back to 1924 when Theodor Stiebel invented a coil immersion heater in his backyard workshop in Berlin. Since the 1940s, Stiebel Eltron has been based in Holzminden, in Lower Saxony, and its product lines now include water heaters, filters and pumps as well as hand-dryers and heat pumps.

The Stiebel Face system works via four filtration stages to provide "skincare water". Firstly, it helps reduce the contaminants.

Secondly, its large carbon block filtration stage with silver ions not only reduces colour, odour, heavy metals and chemicals, it also prevents bacteria growth inside the cartridge to maintain the freshness of the water supply.

In reducing limescale formation, the NSF certified polyphosphate crystal balls neutralise calcium hardness. This prolongs the lifetime of the sanitary fitting and boosts smooth water flow from the tap.

Lastly, water-purifying tourmaline ceramic balls also supply mineral microelements beneficial to the skin while the generated negative ions further give a refreshing feeling.

Cleansing the face hence becomes more hygienic and comfortable with the compact encapsulated filter.

Likewise body skin gets a similar pampering with the fragrant Vita Shower Filters, which reduce chlorine for better water quality. Natural vitamin C further lessens residual chlorine and rust from tap water that might cause allergies.

Used in traditional medicine, an extract from Saururus chinensis provides natural antibacterial function while botanical oil, from almonds or olives, moisturises the skin.

In addition by reducing chlorine inhalation the shower filters are good for respiratory health, while the rose, green tea or strawberry scent provide soothing aromatherapy.
