This is what we consume every day, but is the water you drink safe?

The safety of tap water is the most concerned issue for many of us. For too many people in Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, turning on a tap and drinking a glass of water is like pouring a glass of chemicals.

So, besides installing one of the water purifiers on the faucet or sending the water for expensive testing, how do you determine the quality of drinking water?

Now there is a simple and easy way to get a good understanding of the safety of your drinking water.

The Environmental Working Group has just released a new water quality report for every postal code nationwide. These 2021 water quality reports are prepared for each zip code and are the results of tests conducted by nearly 50,000 local water companies in each state. To know the status of your water, just visit their website ewg.org/tapwater to get your water quality report.

Every zip code in the U.S. is included in the report, which searches for all possible pollutants and pollutants that your local water company finds in its tap water that are above the federal and state guidelines .

This is only the first step in the process. Once you understand the chemicals that may be present in the water, you can decide the next steps you must take to ensure that you always drink safe water from the tap.

The water quality testing website ewg.org also has researchers who can discuss the contaminants detected in your drinking water, check for possible health risks, and advise you on how to reduce chemical content to ensure the safety of you and your family.
