Purify the Water is a quest in Outward, tasking you with cleaning the water of Cierzo. Here, you can find a complete walkthrough for this quest.

Clean water is an important resource in Outward. When you first start the game in Cierzo, you will have access to clean water from the water purifier, but during the Purify the Water quest, this will go rancid. For this quest, your task is to fix the purifier, allowing it to create clean water once again.

In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to complete Purify the Water. This will include a complete walkthrough, as well as what happens if you don't complete the quest. First, let's take a look at the requirements for unlocking this quest.

Prior to beginning Purify the Water, you will need to complete Looking to the Future. This is the third quest in the main story that requires you to choose a faction to join.

After choosing a faction, both Purify the Water and the Vendavel Quest will begin. Once this quest begins, you will have 20 days to make your way to Cierzo and complete it.

When you make it back to Cierzo, your first task is to speak with Etios von Vanoos. This NPC will be standing right next to the water purifier, and will officially give you the quest. The purifier will be filled with rancid water, so you will not be able to drink from it; if you do, you will get sick.

Upon speaking with Etos, he will ask you to bring him two Power Coils so he can fix the purifier.

The easiest way to obtain the Power Coils is by completing the Vendavel Quest. For this quest, you need to defeat three warlords; Crock, Balira, and Rospa.

To get the first Power Coil, speak with Crock, who can be found directly to the left after entering Vendavel Fortress. Upon giving him a bottle of Gaberry wine, Crock will want to fight. Rather than fighting him on the spot, send him to Burac back in Cierzo. When you do this, he will give you the first Power Coil.

The second Power Coil can be found with Balira. When speaking with you, you have the option to kill her, or help her take care of a troublesome Wendigo. If you choose to kill the Wendigo, you will receive a Power Coil as a reward.

With both Power Coils in hand, you can return to Etios in Cierzo and complete the quest.

You will also be able to purchase Power Coils, but they are quite expensive. These coils can be purchased at the following two vendors.

As a reward for completing Purifying the Water, you will regain access to clean water in Cierzo.

Additionally, you will receive the Coil Lantern. This is a unique lantern that will stay lit for around 20 days, which is longer than any other lantern.

If you fail the Purify the Water quest, you will lose access to clean water in Cierzo. Fortunately, you can boil rancid water at a campfire to make clean water. This means that if you happen to fail the quest, you can still get clean water from Cierzo.
